All of us at Modeshift and in the Modeshift STARS Team sincerely hope that you are keeping safe and well during these very strange times. The Modeshift STARS Team are already set up for working remotely, our office is basically wherever we are with our laptops – which for the time being is at home. This means that we have no intention of our service levels dropping over this period and are still available on email and over the phone.
We’ve been receiving some key questions from local authorities over the last couple of weeks and have put together some responses below which will hopefully help you out.
Spring STARS Accreditation – what will happen to schools that have already applied for accreditation?
We are not proposing any changes to the timetable for Spring 2020 application window. Any schools that have already applied should and will have their applications quality assured over the next 5-weeks. Local authorities should refer to the previous email re. Spring 2020 Accreditation Arrangements for the timelines for approving applications. If your local authority has any specific issues with these timelines then please let us know. As soon as school applications are approved, they will receive an email notifying them as such. Plaques, certificates and STARS will be sent directly to local authorities to distribute once the schools re-open.
STARS Spring Accreditation – schools were very close to applying for accreditation but now can’t get the final elements completed by the 31st March deadline
As long as local authorities can complete their own quality assurance process by Friday 17th April, you can give school staff a little more time to complete their applications. If there is no chance of schools completing the final criteria and you really feel they should be considered for approval in this window, then please speak to a member of the Modeshift STARS Team on a case by case basis to discuss the situation. In the event that we approve an override of the STARS system, this will only be applied until 31st December 2020 at which point then will need to re-apply.
Schools are closed and their accreditation is going to expire.
For any school whose accreditation is due to expire in either the Spring 2020 or Summer 2020 accreditation window, and in the event that they are unable to re-apply for accreditation, the Modeshift STARS Team will grant an automatic extension of their accreditation to 31st December 2020.
Will we still be running a Summer 2020 accreditation window?
Yes! The Modeshift STARS Education system remains fully operational and the Modeshift STARS Team are still in place to support local authorities with any accreditation queries. Further details of the deadline for the summer term will be sent out later in the year.
